Guyton Stone was born in Jamaica and moved to Indiantown, Florida at the age of fourteen. The village of Indiantown’s warm welcome and unconditional acceptance has embedded in him a deep love for community that has persisted his entire life. Guyton’s love for his hometown has been the driving force behind his persistent involvement in the community.

Over the years, Guyton has reestablished the local Cub Scouts Pack 818 and Boy Scouts of America Troop 818. (He currently serves as Scoutmaster for both.) Guyton Stone’s community involvement also extends to the Indiantown Rodeo, Indiantown Christmas Parade, Indiantown Youth Sports Club, Habitat for Humanity, and House for Hope.

Guyton  currently serves on the Florida League of Cities Transportation & Intergovernmental Relations Policy Committee and is a member of the Indiantown Chamber of Commerce. He is also the owner and CEO of Guyton’s Custom Design Inc., a home improvement business, and GUYTON® Industries, LLC., a custom furniture and cabinetry manufacturing business in the Village.

Guyton’s affinity for community also compelled him to run for office. In January 2018, Guyton Stone ran for public office; and, in March 2018, he was sworn in as a Council Member with the Village of Indiantown. He was then selected amongst his fellow Council Members to serve as the first Vice Mayor of Indiantown, before eventually becoming the first black mayor of Florida’s newest municipality.

Mayor Stone’s goals and priorities for the Village of Indiantown are encouraging positive activities for youth, protecting tax dollars, supporting public safety, promoting economic development through entrepreneurship and training and development programs for everyone.
